Hop on the Bus for Accion’s Spring Client Tour!

By Amy Clinton

Tomorrow, June 8th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Accion staff will be pulling our heads out of financial statements and business plans to show off our clients! Our 2012 Spring Chicago Client Tour will start and end at our office, and we think you will really enjoy seeing how many dynamic, creative businesses we support throughout the city. Here’s the skinny on some of the stops we’ll make along the way:

  • The Burger Point – Get a taste for some massive burgers and a spiffy renovation in the South Loop.
  • H+ Records – This Printer’s Row record store is ready to rock with vinyl to please fans of almost any musical persuasion.
  • 5411 Empanadas – After one morsel of these Argentine empanadas hits your lips, you’ll be chasing the 5411 food truck all over the city.
  • Big Shoulders Coffee Works – a January TimeOut Chicago feature says owner Tim Coonan is a “black-coffee roaster—meaning the coffee he roasts is created to be pleasant enough to drink without sugar or milk (though Coonan won’t judge you if you add some anyway).”

The 5411 Empanadas truck makes a stop in downtown Chicago.

The Spring Client Tour is a great way to try some amazing food, learn about some Accion businesses in your neighborhood, and get inspired by stories from entrepreneurs who have used our loans to turn their dreams into reality. Not only is it a fun way to spend your day, our entrepreneurs are always encouraged by the energy and enthusiasm participants bring. Being a small business owner isn’t easy, and they’ll be as excited as you are to spend the day with Accion family.

If you’re unable to make it tomorrow, don’t fret! Join us on September 22nd for our annual Microbike fundraiser—we’ll tour the city and several Accion businesses by bike! (For those of you that just can’t get enough of our clients, we won’t mind if you want to do both.) We’ll see you tomorrow here at our office at 1436 W. Randolph Street. Come hungry!
